This morning, PetaPixel (one of my favorite photography blogs) featured an item about two photogs who rode around on the Miami city Metrorail snapping non-commercial photos, just to see how far they’d get. Turns out, they didn’t get even to the first stop. Now, that’s problematic in and of itself…non-commercial photography is, in fact, permitted [...]

[cross-posted from DC Metblogs] In recent months, you may have read about photographers who have reported being harassed by Amtrak police/personnel, and sometimes even having their photos destroyed, while trying to work inside picturesque Union Station in DC. I spent the Observed version of Vet’s Day on the Mall in the morning, shooting a couple of the memorials and the folks visiting them. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ajw_93/2008394678/ [...]

Joy! Rapture! My Nikon D40 is the best purchase ever! Fantastic photos without even trying. And I haven’t even been outside my apartment with it yet. I love this thing. Christmas list wish: 70-300mm lens. I can’t think of a better way to get out and about, explore the neighborhood and enjoy the autumn!
