Huh.

Evidently some of the things I envisioned in the post below happened last night, but Charlie Gibson exceeded expectations and actually asked some questions?  Coolness.  (I’ll admit, I didn’t watch.) I’m only sorry that I can’t find evidence of any “Miss Congeniality” quotes anywhere.

PBS

Am I the only person in America who watches NOW on PBS?  Apparently, I am.  Because I had actually heard of Sarah Palin, and seen the footage of her with her cute little (who-cares-if-they-go-extinct-i-already-have-the-accessory) polar bear pin, high-wattage smile and adorable maternity clothes.   It was only a couple months ago, I think. There she is, [...]

OMG WTF

He really said that?  Out loud?  On television? Good God. I can’t think of anything to say about this.  I’m speechless.   *looks at KO*  Worst Person in the World material, at the VERY LEAST. First the New Yorker cover and now this.  Oh, and about that cover:  It may or may not have failed as [...]

What, on MTP? That’s got to be a first, right?

Everything old is new again?  Some things don’t change?  So many cliches apply, it’s hard to know where to begin. It’s hard to know what to think about something like this. Fiorina is one of McCain’s top advisors, and a leading McCain campaign surrogate. Campaigns are pretty selective about who gets to speak on McCain’s [...]

Si, se puede, con Ed

OK So I was catching up on some web videos I’d tagged in the past few weeks, and one of them was this pro-Obama video “Yes, We Can” produced, apparently, by a Black-Eyed Pea.  Or whatever.  I’m old, I’m not real sure what’s up with that. I was enjoying it, it seemed well done and effective, even if Scarlett Johannson had even less [...]

A good WaPo opinion column?

Surely, that creature is extinct!  Not so.  This morning’s Richard Cohen is great.  Read the whole thing.  Whether or not one is a “person of faith” (ugh, how I dislike that phrase), one should consider Cohen’s point.  It is the overtly religious politicians who need to convince potential voters that they needn’t fear an imposition [...]

What he said

On Bill Moyers’ Journal this week, he ended his opening commentary with this:  “Perhaps the real birth pangs of democracy are here, among the lawyers, judges, and students risking everything for their constitution.” Lawyers protesting abuse of their nation’s constitution.  (OK, total abrogation.)  Wow.  I am saddened by how complacent we have become.

Somebody hook the Hammer

Krauthammer makes me nuts.  I like watching the Friday Shows, but I record “Inside Washington” so I don’t have to listen to most of what he says.  Tonight I caught him saying that, you know, torture is fine and we have to do it.  Then he made the “argument” that makes me most insane of [...]

Way to go, Ray Suarez

Tonight on the NewsHour, Ray was moderating the weekly “analysis of Shields and [Lowry]” (in for David Brooks).  They talked about Mukasey and waterboarding.  Then, Ray attempted to turn the conversation to the President’s statement that he would not nominate a successor to Gonzalez, if in fact Mukasey was not confirmed; and that he would [...]
