It’s Senior Night at HHS! Very exciting. The seniors on the football, dance, and cheer squads will be introduced along with family members and get some love from the crowd! Whoo!
Yeah, I don’t really understand it either. We didn’t have this stuff at RHCS in the 80s. At least, I don’t remember it. I certainly know there was no “Spirit Week,” and when I moved from JIO to RH I really missed that stuff. There were pep rallies…on rare occasions. I think. But whatever — Senior Night is a cool thing that the kids seem to really like. I’m in charge of taking pictures! So, congratulations, AKW, and go Hornets!
Speaking of JIO and RH, evidently they played each other in football this season. That’s a serious case of “worlds collide,” when your two schools meet up on the gridiron. I could have rooted for everybody just by shouting, “Go Raiders!” But, evidently the Raiders were shut out by the Raiders, which is how everybody should win homecoming.
This morning I needed to drive to work, so that I could leave early and get to the game on time; peak-time HOV lanes make the evening drive out to Herndon much longer than at non-peak times (but that’ s ok, VDOT…I’m not mad at ya). During the drive, I spotted a Porsche 914 making its way down the highway and over the bridge into DC. I don’t think I’ve seen one of those on the road since…well…since JEP drove his around town when we were in high school! I believe he kept it alive with VW Bug parts. No word on whether the driver of the one I saw today had to pop the clutch in order to get out of his driveway.

Hey, I could get out of my driveway anytime, with no problems! (it was getting back up the damn hill that sucked!)
I could make you a sweet deal on that 914…it’s been doing a terrific job of collecting dust. (I wonder if my kids will want to drive it – only 11 more years!)
