It happened again…The NCIS:LA Car post has spiked! Hilarious. It happens every week. When I went to the Washington Auto Show in January and noted the crowd of dudes around, and then photographed (because it was ORANGE! come ON!) the new Challenger, I never imagined it’d come back to the blog. So, thanks y’all, for keeping me in the number one spot on Google Blogs search for “ncis la car”. (Speaking of Google, I got my Wave invitation this morning. So if any of y’all get wave’d — or whatever the kids decide to call it — I’m on there.)
The three-day weekend was good; I was all kinds of planning to be productive and do laundry and clean my house from top to bottom. Instead, I spent most of the time chillaxing. Just the basics got done, instead of the real detailing I had in mind. Oh well, it was better than nothing. An amusing highlight was friending a couple of the old kids from NY on facebook: a prom date and a best friend. Now I’m Facebook friends with all my prom dates! Gah! So, hi guys…can you believe we’re grownups and all?
Lastnight I made a delicious meatloaf, which in turn made for an excellent next-day lunch sandwich. That was nice, but the dinner I’m really excited about is tomorrow night: a lovely meal with favored dining compaions JDH and GW — and JDH’s famous mum! I can’t wait to meet her. And did I mention we’re going to Zaytinya? So that’s pretty exciting in and of itself. I haven’t been there in ages but it is a favorite of mine.
In addition, I finally managed to get over to the Library of Congress for MC, to look something up in the Copyright Card Catalog for her; unfortunately, it doesn’t look like what she needs was available. But still, it was fun to go over there and sign up for a Researcher card! And heck, it’s a good thing I’m old enough to know how to use a card catalog! Or even to know what a card catalog is! Walking back to the office today from the LoC reminded me of the days when I used to work at Triple-5…and I walked the Capitol square (First Street in all four quadrants, basically) every day at lunch. I should start that again, or maybe just a portion of it. It was great exercise and a fantastic way to catch the changing seasons in DC.
Oh, and since I mention changing seasons: Ladies, here’s a tip — when it’s cold enough outside that you feel the need to bundle up into a coat, hat, and scarf, that means that it’s time to put away the flip-flops. If your feet are bare, you’re never going to be warm. Sheesh.
And finally, an unexpected flashback that won’t fit into a one-line “Flashback of the day”, but that’s too hilarious not to share: The other day I was casually perusing job postings, as I am wont to do from time to time. There was one company which looked interesting, basically just because I can see its office from my house. So, I was cruising its web site…then I noticed they had a flickr feed, and what do you know but therein I discovered a random photo of a dear, old, long-unseen friend of mine from college days (who doesn’t appear work at said company, though, which made it all the more random). A friend who was very important to me back then, and with whom a lot of my time was spent, but that since graduation I think I’ve seen once. It was a jolt to see the photo; not in a bad way…but a hell of a blast from the past. But, dear reader, I think that means that I must send these people my resume. Just cosmically, you know?
