Books
So, like, I read blogs, you know? And so like, there’s this “book meme” going around and WAH, I WANT IN. But, like, no one else reads my blog, you know? So here goes.
1. One book that’s changed your life
All Quiet on the Western Front, Erich Maria Remarque. I loved it. That scene in the foxhole matured me as a person. Also read this in 10th grade, the time of my visit to the USSR. Sigh. I wish I were a Kremlinologist.
2. One book that you have read more than once
All the Dune novels up till the sixth one, many Anne Rice books (she’s crazy, but in SUCH a fun way), Perestroika by Gorbachev, see #1 above….it goes on and on. I read most books more than once, eventually.
3. One book you would want on a desert island.
Cry to Heaven, anne rice (again, with the good crazy). Or maybe Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. Both long, interesting.
4. One book that made you cry.
Where the Red Fern Grows. Come on. I’m a girl.
5. One book that made you laugh.
So many. One that comes immediately to mind is “Sponging: A Guide to Living off Those you Love” by Jay Blumenfield et al. Sigh. I wish Too Much Joy were still together.
6. One book you wish had been written.
An autobiography by Jefferson.
7. One book you wish had never been written.
Mein Kampf.
8. One book you are currently reading.
The Third Reich by Michael Burleigh. Interesting and dense, but badly (copy-)edited and generally anecdotal in nature. I have to be mentally ready to slog through it. On the other hand, just finished listening to an Elizabeth George mystery. Heh.
9. One book you’ve been meaning to read.
New Manners for New Times. I need more etiquette tips.
So THERE, blogosphere!
