From Way Downtown….BANG
OR
Keith Olbermann is my dream man, part deux
Thank God for DVR; Keith’s signature line of old (Way Downtown) delivered in re the first-quarter Seahawks field goal. I had to do a quick rewind to see it again. Keith, dare I say, had me en fuego.
I loved his take on the lame-ass Superbowl commercials and halftime “entertainment”. I won’t complain about the actual game, as many have done, because some of my first exposure to football came in the form of Steelers games, as my mom’s a lifelong Steelers fan. So I was quite excited that they won. Though WTF was up with all the holding going on? How many holding penalties was that, exactly?
The halftime “show” was awful. Keith and his guest (sorry, I forget his name) had it spot-on when they agreed that the Stones sold out forty years ago (Ed Sullivan) and are just continuing that tradition with the “editing” that went on. But what bothered me most was how poorly MIXED the sound was. Everything was quite obviously pre-fab at a seriously detailed level; otherwise, you can’t get the stage etc set up inside of 10 minutes as was done. Really people, it’s not like they didn’t have a chance for a sound check. Get it mixed and then switch the board back on. Honestly. Ugh. After two songs by the Stones, we gave up and switched to “Dateline”. Though now that Keith has informed me of the existence of the “Puppy Bowl” I’ll be watching that next year.
